Navy Officer Nominations Dated January 2010
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:
Rear Adm. (lower half) Douglass T. Biesel will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Northwest, Silverdale, Wash. Biesel is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Marianas/U.S. Pacific Command representative Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau/Commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Marianas.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Paul J. Bushong will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Marianas/U.S. Pacific Command representative Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau/commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Marianas. Bushong is currently serving as commander, Submarine Group Two, Groton, Conn.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Michael E. McLaughlin will be assigned as commander, Submarine Group Two, Groton, Conn. McLaughlin is currently serving as deputy director, National Military Command Center Operations Team Five J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. John W. Miller will be assigned as commander, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Fallon, Nev. Miller is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven, San Diego, Calif.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Frank A. Morneau will be assigned as deputy director, expeditionary warfare, N85B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Morneau is currently serving as deputy director, CJ3, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq.
Rear Adm. (lower half) David M. Thomas Jr., who has been selected for promotion to Rear Adm., will be assigned as commander, Naval Surface Force, Atlantic/deputy commander, Naval Surface Forces, Norfolk, Va. Thomas is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group Two, Norfolk, Va.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Nora W. Tyson will be assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group Two, Norfolk, Va. Tyson is currently serving as commander, Logistics Group, Western Pacific/commander, Task Force 73/Commander, Navy Region Singapore.
Capt. Katherine L. Gregory, who has been selected for promotion to Rear Adm. (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Gregory is currently serving as chief of staff, First Naval Construction Division/Naval Construction Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nomination:
Navy Vice Adm. David Architzel for reappointment to the rank of vice admiral and assignment as commander, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md. Architzel is currently serving as principal deputy assistant secretary of the Navy (research, development and acquisition), Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Navy Vice Adm. James A. Winnefeld Jr. for appointment to the rank of admiral and assignment as commander, Northern Command/Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Winnefeld is currently serving as director, strategic plans and policy, J-5, and as senior member, United States Delegation to the United Nations Military Staff Committee, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:
Rear Adm. (lower half) Terry J. Benedict will be assigned as director for strategic systems programs, Arlington, Va. Benedict is currently serving as program executive officer for integrated warfare systems, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. Julius S. Caesar will be assigned as vice director, joint concept development and experimentation, J9, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Suffolk, Va. Caesar previously served as deputy commander, Navy Installations Command, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. (lower half) James D. Cloyd will be assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group Five, Yokosuka, Japan. Cloyd previously served as associate director, Assessment Division, N81D, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Edward S. Hebner will be assigned as commander, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego, Calif. Hebner is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group Seven, San Diego, Calif.
Rear Adm. Christopher J. Mossey will be assigned as commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command and chief of civil engineers, Washington, D.C. Mossey is currently serving as director, Ashore Readiness Division, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and vice commander, Navy Installations Command, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. Michael S. O'Bryan will be assigned as commander, Navy Air and Missile Defense Command, Dahlgren, Va. O'Bryan is currently serving as director, Navy Maritime Domain Awareness, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
